Paul's Journey
March 2012

Hello everyone, I believe this is our first newsletter and my first article of 2012. We've already had a great year starting out and I look forward to the rest of the year and what God has in store for our ministry!

January started out kind of slow for us but we did have some great services. On January 2nd we had a good time down in Victoria Texas at Templo Jerusalem Church with the Telestials, and The Goldens. A big turnout for a Monday. From there we were at Central Baptist in Denton, First Baptist and Glory Bound Baptist in Elmendorf, Emmanuel Baptist in Colmesneil, Skyview Baptist in Alvin, and Memorial Baptist in Pasadena, TX. We want to thank all these churches for some great services and wonderful fellowship.

Our schedule started to pick up in February. We started out at an annual revival that we have been a part of for about 10 or 12 years now at First Baptist Church in Fresno, TX. From there we had great, great time on our "Victory Gospel Cruise" to the Bahamas. Then we went to the Rio Grande Valley. We had four concerts in two days and they were all awesome. We've been to First Baptist Combes many times and we always have a good time there. Well this time was no exception. The folks there were great! This was our first time at First Baptist in Harlingen and I must say it was absolutely wonderful. We had a full house at the Sunday night concert and I believe the folks there really enjoyed it because we sold nearly two racks full of CD's. What a blessing!

In March we'll be making stops in Centerville and Buffalo TX, Slagle and Heflin LA, and Sanger and Crockett, TX. Be sure to check our Tour Schedule on our website to see what churches we will be singing at in these areas. We'd love to see you there!

We have some exciting things coming ahead in the next few months, like; a seven day trip to Scotland. Can't wait to do some singing there and see some beautiful countryside in Europe! It looks like the folks there are very excited about us coming, so we plan on having a great time!

We'll be celebrating 35 years this year in August. We'll be letting you know more about this "Celebration Concert" when we get more details.
We've been chosen to sing on Main Stage this year at the National Quartet Convention. What an honor this is. We'll be singing on Wednesday night, September 12th. We'd love to see you there! They will also be having a new NQC Awards program this year that you (the fans) can participate in. You can actually nominate Paul's Journey for different awards. You'll see some information about how you can be a part of this new event in this month's newsletter. It's absolutely free!

We'll also be having a new event this year called "A Riverwalk Christmas". It's a three day, three night trip to San Antonio, TX that you're going to love. Many of you know that we've been going up to Tennessee every year for an event called "Christmas in the Smokies", well we decided to bring it to Texas. Look for more information on this mini vacation in this month's newsletter.

So, it looks like I've caught you up on what's going on with Paul's Journey so far this year. I look forward to seeing you guys down the road somewhere. Be sure to say a prayer for us when you can. With the economy like it is, it seems like it's getting harder and harder to stay on the road, but I believe that God will take care of us as long as we keep our focus on Him. I know that we can't do what we've been called to do without our Lord and we can't do it without you.

We'd love to hear from you! If you have a prayer request or a praise report be sure to let us know about it. Also, Pray for country. We have a major election coming ahead in the next few months that could definitely determine the direction of this country. Ask God to guide you on what He would have you do to help our country. Don't forget to pray for military as well. They need our prayers every day.

Until next time God bless you all! We love you!

November/December 2011

I want to start off by wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and blessed New Year! I love the Christmas season; it's really my favorite holiday. I enjoy seeing and spending time with my family. I love all the lights and decorations. My wife Dianne, along with our kids and grandkids, makes Christmas cookies every year (of course they're all growing up now, so I don't how much longer they'll be helping), and trust me folks, I am a cookie monster! I even like the shopping part of the Christmas season, but most of all I love the reason that we celebrate Christmas. I heard an atheist say on the radio the other day that Christmas was a secular holiday, and it was all about Santa, decorations, lights and hype. I have to agree that Christmas has defiantly turned into a bunch of hype, but here's where we disagree. Folks, Jesus is the reason we celebrate Christmas, and we must never forget that. It's all about celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I certainly don't see anything wrong with all the other stuff that we do at Christmas time, but we should never forget why we celebrate it in the first place.

We had a great month in November and had the opportunity to see a lot decisions made at the altars. I love to see the Holy Spirit move among His people! We also had a lot of people signing up to sponsor our Compassion Kids. Many of you know that we teamed up with Compassion International about 3 years ago to help sponsor poverty-stricken kids in third world countries around the world. We love working with this organization because they not only help these kids through your sponsorship by providing them food, clothing, medical attention, and education, but they also offer them Jesus Christ. They teach them that through Jesus Christ they can have hope and eternal life. Hundreds of thousands of these kids come to know Jesus as their Savior every year. Paul's Journey loves being a part of that kind of mission outreach!

Dianne and I are also staying real busy at our radio station 102.7 KTXJ in Jasper, TX. This is another great ministry opportunity to which God has called us, and we're watching it grow every day. We have a large listening area, but if you don't live in an area where you can pick it up on the radio, just go to www.1027ktxj.com and listen live right over the web. If you love Southern Gospel music you're going to love KTXJ.

I'm sorry to have to say that our Christmas DVD is still in production. Those of you that have pre-ordered your copy, I want you to know that we will send your copy to you as soon as we can, and I do apologize. Again, I am truly sorry for the delay and we appreciate your patience.
We are now booking dates for 2012 and we would love to sing at your church or next promoted concert. So if we've never been to your church, or we have been but it's been a while since we were there, please give us a call and let's book a date for next year.

As always, please pray for our country, the leaders of our country, and our military, and please pray for the ministry of Paul's Journey daily. Don't forget to send us your prayer requests. We can't pray for you if we don't know what your needs are.

Until next month, God bless you all!

September/October 2011

A great big hello to all of our friends, fans, and family. Isn't it good to know that you have someone out there that loves you, cares for you, and even prays for you? I have to say, it feels good on this end! I know for a fact that we have friends and family praying and showing their love for this ministry every single day. Praying for our safety on the road as we travel, praying for God's direction and blessings as we minister from place to place and week to week. I want you to know that we appreciate that so much, and God truly does bless us through your efforts. We couldn't make it without you, and we love each one of you!!!

I'm sorry I missed writing last month's newsletter. The only excuse I have is that I just forgot, however September was a very busy month for us. We were on tour for about 12 days singing in Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee. Six days of that tour was at the National Quartet Convention in Louisville, KY. We had a great time this year at NQC! We sang several times during the week including Main Stage on Wednesday night. That's always a lot of fun. We visited with thousands of people during the week, and made many new contacts from across the country. We ended the month in Eureka Springs, AR where we sang at the "Top of the Mountain Dinner Theater "at "The Great Passion Play". We sang there two nights and had a ball! We finished the month of September at Victory Temple in Fort Smith, AR and a great time of worship!

October is going to be another busy month for us. We'll be going to Oklahoma, West Texas, the Hill Country of Texas, North East Texas, and Louisiana. Be sure to check our Tour Schedule on our website to find out exactly where we're going be and when.

Here's some exciting news for you. Paul's Journey has been invited to go sing at a three day Gospel Music Convention in Fraserburgh Scotland. We'll be gone May 1 - May 7th 2012. We're very excited about the trip and very honored to be asked to participate in this annual event. I'll let you know more about the trip as the details come in.

Our brand new "Live In Concert" DVD is now available. Those of you that have pre-ordered your copy, I want you to know that it has been mailed out. Hopefully the Christmas DVD will be finished and ready for delivery by the end of November. We are truly sorry for the delay and we appreciate your patience.

We are now booking dates for 2012 and we would love to come sing at your church or next promoted concert.

August 2011

Hi folks!

I hope everyone is having a great summer so far. I have to say this has been one of the hottest summers this old boy has seen a while! I can’t wait till the fall just so we can get a little cool-down.

Have you noticed that about all you hear in the news these days is bad news? The economy is about at its all-time worse. There are wars going on all over the world. The weather is acting crazy everywhere, not just here in the United States of America. Innocent people are being murdered from one end of the globe to the other, and drug use and the sale of drugs are at an all-time high. All bad news! Wouldn’t it be good just to hear some good news? Well, I just happen to have some good news for you! That good news is the gospel of Jesus Christ. The gospel message is that Jesus came down to this earth, died on a cross for the sins of EVERYONE in the world. He rose again, and lives today. Now get ready - here comes more “good news”. He’s coming back some day for His children; those people who have accepted Him as their savior. Folks, believe me when I say we have something wonderful to look forward to. Now, is that “good news” or not?

Paul’s Journey starts the month of August up in Renfro Valley, KY for an all-night gospel sing. There’s quite a line up too. Paul’s Journey, Jeff & Sherrie Easter, Palmetto State Quartet, The Roarks, and The Hissongs. That’s Saturday, August 6. Hope you can make it!

Friday night, August 19, is the one of the biggest events of the season. We will be celebrating our 34th Anniversary Concert at First Baptist Church in Magnolia, TX. We will also be debuting our brand new CD called “A Tribute To The Classics”. We plan on taking you back in time with classics of old like “How Great Thou Art”, Get Away Jordan”, “Till The Storm Passes By”, “Wonderful Time Up There”, and more. There will video clips of “The Statesmen Quartet, The Blackwood Brothers Quartet, and The Happy Goodman Family. You don’t want to miss this one! There are still tickets available. Call our office at 936-273-3074 or you can order from our website at www.paulsjourneyonline.com. Hope to see you there!

The brand new CD, “A Tribute To The Classics” will be available for order after August 19, and our new DVD “Paul’s Journey Live In Concert” will release in September 1st.

We still have several dates open this year and next year, and we would love to sing at your church or promoted concert. If we’ve never been to your church, or if we have but it's been a while since we were there, please give us a call and let's book a date for this year or next.

Let me encourage you to pray for rain. Texas is in a severe drought, and other parts of the country are really feeling the effects of this terrible heat wave. As always, please pray for the leaders of our country and our military. Also, please pray for the ministry Paul's Journey and our families daily. We need your prayers. Don't forget to send us your prayer requests so that we can pray for your needs too.
Love you all,

Rod

July 2011

Hello everyone!

I hope your day, week, month, and year are going good for you! It’s been a good year so far for Paul’s Journey. Just like everyone else though, we’ve had our ups and downs, but God has been there with us all the way. You know, as we travel around the country we hear from many people who are discouraged or maybe going through some things in their lives that they just don’t understand. Well let me tell you, we’ve all been there a time or two. I always remind people to do what they have to do to make it through your daily walk, and that is, always trust in God! He will not fail you. Proverbs 3: 5 & 6 says; Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Then Philippians 4: 7 says; And the peace of God which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Folks, if we have the peace of God on our side, it just doesn’t get any better than that.
We start the month of July off in two brand new churches for Paul’s Journey. That is Sugarland Baptist in Sugarland, TX and Southwinds Baptist Church in Tomball, TX. We’re really looking forward to meeting many new friends, and having a wonderful day of worship!

Then we’re off to our annual July visit to the Panhandle of Texas. We’ll be in West Texas for five days. This is a trip we look forward to every year. The next weekend we’re back in East Texas. Now in most states, that’s not that big a deal, but in Texas we’re talking about a 12-hour drive. We’re also going back to Victoria, TX this month, then on the last weekend we’ll be in Tennessee. Be sure to check our Tour Schedule on our website to see where we’re going to be and when we’re going to be there.
Our new video “Paul’s Journey Live in Concert” is due to be released this month, so be looking for that. We had a great time recording this video in Pigeon Forge, TN, and it has many of most requested songs on it.

Our brand new CD, “A Tribute to the Classics” is coming out in August. This is the CD that many of you have been asking and waiting for. It’s going be great!
We still have several dates open this year and we would love to sing at your church or next promoted concert. So, if we've never been to your church, or if we have but it's been a while since we were there, please give us a call and let's book a date for this year or next.

Be sure to be in prayer for all the families that were devastated with the tornados that moved through the Midwest in May. So many of these people not only lost their homes and possessions, but many lost their loved ones as well. Also, be in prayer for rain for the state of Texas. As always, please pray for our military, and please pray for the ministry Paul's Journey daily. Don't forget to send us your prayer requests. We can't pray for you if we don't know what your needs are.

Until next month, God bless you all!

June 2011

Wow, here it is June and almost half a year already behind us! I don't know about you, but it seems like the older I get, the faster the time seems to pass.
You know it seems like every now and then someone comes along and tries to predict the end of time. My belief is that if God wanted us to know the exact time, then He would have told us. In Matthew 24:36 Jesus says: But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of Heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. But, what He did say is to be on the lookout. In verse 42 He says: Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming. In other words, be ready. Verse 44 says: For this reason you also must be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will. I must say, if you look around at what's going on in this world today, it sure looks like He could come sooner than later. Read Matthew 24: 6-13 and you'll see what I'm talking about. But until that time comes, I choose to believe what Jesus tells us, not some guy from California.

The first weekend in June we’ll start out in my home state of Louisiana. We're back in East Texas the next weekend. Our very last "Texas Gospel Jamboree" at the Texas Opry is on June 17th with our special guests, The Needhams from Murfreesboro, TN. They've been with before and are always a crowd favorite. Be sure and get your tickets now for this last show at the Texas Opry. Following the Jamboree, we are up in North Texas for the rest of that weekend, and then we have a much deserved vacation week. I know I'm looking forward to it! We end June in Humble, Texas at First Assembly of God. We'll be there Sunday morning for their more contemporary service, and that evening, a full-blown Southern Gospel concert (quartet style). Check our tour schedule on our website at www.paulsjourneyonline.com to see if Paul's Journey is coming to a city near you. We'd love to see you there!

Randall tells me that the brand new "LIVE" DVD "Paul's Journey In Concert" will be ready in July. The Christmas DVD will probably be ready in September. For all of you who have pre-ordered the DVD's, we will get them sent to you as soon as they are released.

We will be in the studio most of the month of June recording our brand new CD "A Tribute to the Classics". I promise, this much anticipated CD is going to be worth the wait. We actually took your song requests and have many of your old favorites going on this CD. It's going to be great!!! It will release at our 34 year Anniversary Concert on August 19. We will let you know the time and place of this event as soon as we can.

As always, please pray for our military, and please pray for the ministry Paul's Journey daily. Don't forget to send us your prayer requests. May 2011

Hi folks, its newsletter time again. I'm telling you, these months are just flying along. It seems like I just wrote the newsletter for April!

The times we're living in right now are pretty tough. Gasoline and diesel prices are on the rise and it doesn't look like they are going to be coming back down any time soon. Of course this just spills over to other things like food prices, clothing, etc. I know many of you have been hit pretty hard during these times. Trust me, we all have, but I truly believe God when He says that "He will not put on us more than we can bare". My advice to all is to not give up hope, keep believing and trusting in God. Be faithful to Him and He will be faithful to you.

We were pretty busy in April, traveling and singing in the states of Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana. We had some great services where we saw the power of God move. Several of the churches we went to were new contacts, so we enjoyed meeting new Christian friends and we look forward to going back.  May has us crisscrossing the state of Texas a couple of times this month. We're in the Midland/Odessa area a few times, and the Houston, and San Antonio areas as well. Be sure to check our TOUR SCHEDULE on our website to see if Paul's Journey is coming to a city near you. We'd love to see you there!

The brand new "LIVE" DVD's, "Paul's Journey in Concert" and "A Christmas with Paul's Journey" are almost ready. We will be putting the finishing touches on these and they should release sometime in June.

As I said earlier, I know times are tough on everyone right now, especially financially. Our ministry feels this in more ways than one. We mostly depend on Love Offerings from the churches where we sing, and if the people of that church are hurting financially, this generally hurts our finances as well. With fuel prices, food prices, and hotel prices on the rise, it's hard to keep a full-time ministry on the road. My prayer is that this crisis that our country is in right now will soon come to a close. That people without employment, will soon find work again; but most of all, that our churches will seek and find REVIVAL. We also need to pray for all the families that were devastated with the tornados that moved through the south the last week in April, and pray for rain for the state of Texas. As always, please pray for our military, and pray for the ministry Paul's Journey daily.

Also, don't forget to send us your prayer requests. We can't pray for you if we don't know what your needs are.

Until next month, God bless you all!

April 2011

Hello everyone; I hope everything is going okay for you. I know if you're like most folks though, there are some of you that may be going through tough times in your life right now. It may be physical (something going on in your body), financial (not enough money to go around), emotional (dealing with depression or maybe mourning the loss of a loved one), or spiritual (just needing a closer relationship with God). If this is you, then I may just have a scripture that can help you get through this time. Isaiah: 43:2 says, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, nor will the flame burn you.” Now, I don't think God is telling us here to just go walk through waters that are over our heads or to walk through a house that is burning up, but what He's trying to get across to us is to just trust in Him and He will get you through your trying circumstance, whatever it may be. The first part of verse 3, God tells us why. He says, “For I am the Lord your God, The Holy One of Israel, your savior.” Wow, now that'll preach!!!

We had a very good month in March with great church services all over Texas and Louisiana. I even got to go back to my home church in DeQuincy, LA., Eastern Heights Baptist Church. This is where it all started for me, and where it started for this ministry almost 34 years ago. We ended up with a good size crowd that night, with several people coming from out of town and out of state. We got to sing with the Christway Quartet out of Sulphur, LA, which is my cousin, Darrell's, group. He was an original member of The Relations Quartet who is now Paul's Journey. It turned out to be wonderful service that I will remember for quite some time.
April has already started out with a bang. The first weekend we had two great concerts (church services) at the Nazarene Church in Del City, OK and it carried right on through that Sunday night at the First Baptist Church in Sanger, TX. This past weekend we were at the Country Church in Marion, TX just outside of San Antonio. Close to 1000 people showed up for that one, and man, did we have a service! I can't wait for the rest of the month. We're going back to Louisiana this month as well, so check our schedule and see if Paul's Journey is coming your way. We'd love to see you there.

Also, don't forget that the South Texas Gospel Music Association's annual convention is April 29th & 30th. Paul's Journey will be there on Saturday. Hope you get to go!
The brand new "LIVE" DVD's, "Paul's Journey in Concert" and "A Christmas with Paul's Journey" are almost ready. We will be putting the finishing touches on these this month and they should release sometime in June.

March 2011

Hey folks! Isn't it good to know that no matter what you may be going through in your life right now, if you are a child of God, I mean if you have Jesus in your heart, God is still in control of your life if you let Him! Romans 8:23 & 31 says this: And we know that all things work together for the GOOD to them that love God, and to them that are called according to His purpose. 31 says: What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us who can be against us? You see folks, God is bigger than all of our problems and troubles in this world, and if we are called according to His purpose, guess who wins. He is a Great Big God!
We started off the month of February with a bang. I mean we had a great crusade at First Baptist Church in Fresno, and it really energized us! We also visited a church that was a new one for us. It was North Bay Fellowship in Ingleside. We had two great services there, and these folks are some of the sweetest people in the world. We can't wait to go back!

The month of March has us going to churches in Louisiana, East Texas, and South East Texas. On March 26 we will be going back to the church where this ministry started over 33 years ago, Eastern Height Baptist Church in DeQuincy, Louisiana. This was my old home church, and the church that I was raised in. My Dad, who is a charter member still goes there. Needless to say, I'm really looking forward to this one. We've haven't had an opportunity to sing there in years, since we moved our ministry to Texas.

Randall is back from the studio where they cut the music tracks for our new recording. It's called "A Tribute To The Classics". So, what do you think that means? That's right, every song on this project is an old Southern Gospel Classic. This is the one for which some of you been waiting. We will start the recording process in April, and we should have a July release. So be watching the this brand new CD from Paul's Journey

The brand new "LIVE" DVD's, "Paul's Journey in Concert" and "A Christmas with Paul's Journey" are almost ready. We will be putting the finishing touches on these this month and they should release sometime in April.

February 2011

Hello everybody! I hope your year is going well for you so far! Paul's Journey's year is moving right along. We had a pretty good January; busy anyway. January 1st we sang in Victoria, TX once again with the "Telestials" and the "Baileys". We always enjoy singing with these two groups, and the crowd always seems to like them too. The next morning we sang at First Baptist in Elmendorf, TX and boy did we have church! After that, we made our annual "Lone Star Jubilee Tour" down to the Rio Grande Valley with our dear friends the "Texans". That was six days with two concerts a day. Very tiring for this old guy, but as always, a lot of fun. A big thanks goes out to First Baptist Church of Combes for inviting us to sing at their Sunday morning worship service January 16 on such short notice. It was great service! The next week end we sang at Mayfield Baptist Church in Arlington, TX for "Great Star Productions". There was a good size crowd there that night and as usual, Paul's Journey had church. The next morning we had to be all the way back to the Houston area at my home church, Grace Point Fellowship Baptist Church in Magnolia. I hope I don't hurt anyone's feelings when I say this, but we have a great church! One of the best pastors that there is, and a wonderful church family as well. It was so good to be there! That Sunday night we were in Alvin, TX with all our good friends at Skyview Baptist Church. We ended the month with two great services at Long Pine Baptist Church in Broaddus, TX and Pine Forest Baptist Church in Onalaska, TX.

Randall is going back to our record company in February to start making the music tracks for our next CD. I believe it's one that almost everyone is going to like. Most of you have been asking for this CD for quite some time now. Our next recording will be a tribute to the classics of days gone by. Many of the songs on this CD are songs that you picked out for us. It should be available sometime this summer. Also, be looking for two brand new DVD's coming out in late spring.

I know times are tough on everyone right now, especially financially. Our ministry feels this in more ways than one. We mostly depend on Love Offerings from the churches where we sing, and if the people of that church are hurting financially, this generally hurts our finances as well. January 2011

Happy New Year everyone! I hope your new year has started out to be a good one. I have to admit I’m glad 2010 is over! It was a most interesting year for us. With the economy down like it is, we struggled early on in the year, and at one time I have to admit I didn’t even know if we were going to able to continue on. God had another plan, and things started to get better about July. Then in October we had equipment stolen. But again God said, “ I’m not through with you yet”. God started speaking to people and before we knew it, we had enough money to replace our stolen equipment. Folks, we serve a “Great Big God”, and we thank all of you that were led to help us replace our equipment!

We started out the new year with a bang. It actually started on December 31 at Woodville, TX singing the old year out, and the new year in. The next day, we went to Victoria, TX and had a great concert there. On Sunday, we went to the First Baptist Church in Elmendorf, TX and we had church! Three people got saved and many more came to the altar for prayer. It was amazing!

The rest of the month has us in Jasper, Bleakwood, Harlingen, Wesleco, Mission, Brownsville, Arlington, Magnolia, and Broaddus, all in Texas. Be sure to check our schedule to see if we’re coming to your area, so you can join us.

We still have openings in 2011, so if you’d like to have Paul’s Journey at your church or next concert, please give us a call. We’d love to come!!!

Be sure to contact us with your prayer request; we’d love to pray for you! Please keep Paul’s Journey in your prayers. We need it!

Until next month, God bless you all.

December 2010

Hello everyone! I hope your Thanksgiving was as good as mine. Dianne and I had both of our daughters, four grandchildren and Dianne’s sister over for Thanksgiving dinner. It was a great! Plus The New Orleans Saints beat the Dallas Cowboys. It just doesn’t get any better than that…I can’t wait for Christmas!!!
It’s now time to turn to the Christmas season. I love Christmas too! I enjoy having my family over and spending any time I can with them. Be sure to make some time to spend with your family during these Christmas holidays.

Starting December 2nd – 4th we’ll be at “Christmas in the Smokies” in Pigeon Forge, TN. We have several folks from Texas and all over the country coming with us, so I know we’re going to have a great time this year! While we’re there in Pigeon Forge we’ll recording two live videos. You can be looking for these two videos to be released sometime in the spring of 2011.

We’ll be taking our “Light A Candle” Christmas Tour to several cities in Texas this year, so please check our schedule to see if we’re coming to a city near you. Our Texas Gospel Jamboree is on December 17th. Our Special guest again this year is Dennis Rehders. You can get your tickets by calling our office at 936-273-3074 or directly from our website at www.paulsjourneyonline.com.

Paul’s Journey will be singing on December 31 at the “New Year’s Eve Celebration Concert” in Woodville, TX at the “Summit”, which is the auditorium at the Woodville High School. If you’re anywhere in the area, or even if you have to travel and spend the night, you don’t want to miss this one. Paul’s Journey will be singing along with HisSong, McMillan & Life, Randy and Sheri Miller, the Stanley’s, the Ford Sisters, Keri Lynn Spivey, Heather Hart, and more. The concert will be from 6:00 PM until midnight. There will be a concession stand with food and drinks, and there are several motels in and around Woodville. So what’s stopping you from being there?
Paul’s Journey has had a very interesting year. Some ups, and some downs, but God has kept His promise to us. He said He would never leave us or forsake us. I have to tell folks, I wouldn’t want to face a day without Him. He’s a “Great Big God”!!!!

Be sure to contact us with your prayer request. Also, if you would like for Paul’s Journey to come to your church or your next concert event, give us a call; we’d love to come! We’re booking dates in 2011 right now.

Merry Christmas to all, and God bless,
Rod

November 2010

Let me start out by just getting something out of my system.   PRAISE GOD & HALLELUJAH!!!!!!!    Okay, I feel better now.

I know many of you read in my last newsletter about our equipment being stolen.  Well, this month I want to report to you some great news!   Let me first say that we have some of the greatest friends and family in the world, and because of their love for God and this ministry, the biggest part of our equipment has been replaced.  That's right, because of your financial support we were able to buy the necessary equipment we need to continue on this journey that God has us travelling.  The only thing that we haven't been able to replace is Randall's keyboard and case.  So, I guess now you know why I just had to shout out praises to God.

We have a lot of good concerts coming up this month depending on where you're located.  November 12th at 7:00 PM Paul's Journey will be in concert at Sagemont Church in Houston, TX  along with Ernie Haase & Signature Sound, Greater Vision, and Jessica King.   November 13th we'll be at Silsbee High School, in Silsbee, TX with Greater Vision, Jessica King, and The Master's Men.  This concert starts at 6:00 PM.  November  19th is our Texas Gospel Jamboree in Magnolia, TX with our very special guest, Keri Len Spivey.  We have a 2:00 PM show and a 7:30 performance.  November 20th we'll be at Pleasantview Baptist Church in Arlington, TX with Shiloh, Southern Charm, and New Day.  It starts at 7:00 PM.  Check out our website for ticket prices and map location for these events.  Everyone of these are going to be great!!!!!

We've had several people ask us when we were going to have a new DVD.  Well, that time has come.  We'll be in Tennessee the first weekend in December , and while we're there, we're going to record two live DVD's.  They will release sometime in early spring.

Don't forget to go ahead and sign up for our next cruise.  It's going to be awesome!  February of 2012 we'll be sailing to the Bahamas on a seven- day cruise.   We'll boarding a brand new ship called "Magic".  You don't want to miss this one.   You still have over a year to pay for it, but we need for you to get your deposit in now to guarantee your cabin.  This cruise is already beginning to sell.

Ryan and Angela had their little girl, Allie,  on Monday, November 1st.  She is one beautiful little girl!

I guess that's about it for this month.  Be sure to get those prayer requests sent in to us.  I promise, I pray for each one.

God bless you all!

Rod

October 2010

Hi everyone! I'm running real late on this newsletter, and for that I truly apologize.

Let me just start out by saying God is a Great Big God!!!! It is such an honor to serve Him and to watch Him work through the ministry that He has called us to. Even when the ole’ devil tries to stop us, or discourage us, God just reveals His grace and His mercy to an even higher extent.

Many of you have already heard about how our trailer was broken into, and how we lost a big portion of our sound equipment. The cost now looks to be somewhere around $10,000.00 worth. This all happened on Friday night in San Marcos, TX. I have to be totally honest with you, when I first noticed what had happened, my human flesh felt so violated. Just to think that someone would steal something from us that we had worked very hard for! Then, as I just when I started feeling the discouragement coming on, the Holy Spirit just assured me that everything was okay and that God is still God, and He is always in control. We sent out an email to let our friends and family know about what had happened, then all of a sudden people (God's people) started responding with help, and for that I am so grateful. There was just no way that we could have come up with this money right now.

A couple of folks have asked if we were insured. The truth is, we have insurance on our Sprinter and trailer and thought that is all we needed. We found out that the contents in the trailer are not covered. This was an oversight on my part, and one that will soon be fixed. By the way, this is the first time in 33 years that we have ever had any of our sound equipment stolen!

I want you all to know again how much I appreciate your giving! I know God is going to bless those of you that have helped us financially, and I want you to know that your gift is tax deductable. We are going to put a meter on our website to let you know how much financial help has come in.
I also want to thank all of those that have told us that they are praying for us. Folks, we covet your prayers, and we know it's through these prayers that God is keeping His hands upon us.

We ended up having a great weekend while we were in the Texas Hill Country. We'll be headed to West Texas this weekend for the Texas Singing Jubilee. We'll be back at the Yamboree Gospel Music Festival in Gilmer, TX on the 22nd and 23rd, then on to Shreveport and Many, LA on the 24th. We'll end up at Rosanky Baptist on the 31st. We're anxious to see what God wants to do at each of these services.

Be sure to let us know how we can pray for you. Call or email us with your prayer request, and I promise, we will lift you up before the Lord.

God bless you all! We love each of you!
Rod

September 2010

I just want to start out by saying how GREAT God really is. He has been such a blessing to me, and I know that you can say the same thing. Sometimes we just need to stop what we’re doing and thank God for what He does for us on a daily basis. How He demonstrates His love, mercy, and grace towards us.

August was just a terrific month for Paul’s Journey. We had some absolutely wonderful services! I can’t think of one that I didn’t feel the holy presence of God. Believe me there’s been times and places where we have just not felt His presence. I’ve been in some churches where I wondered if God had ever showed up there, but that has not been case lately.

Our August Jamboree in Magnolia, where we celebrated our 33 Anniversary was a total success. We sang to two great crowds that day 2:00 PM and 7:30 PM and everyone had a wonderful time. I don’t know if I have another 33 years in me or not, but I plan on singing until God says that’s enough.

Well it’s September and that means it’s time once again for the National Quartet Convention. It’s what we in Southern Gospel Music call the granddaddy of them all. If you love Southern Gospel Music then you would love NQC. We’ll be there all week. We’ll be singing Thursday at 1:15 PM in East Hall at a NQC Featured Showcase. We will also be singing Friday afternoon at a VIP Showcase. We’ll also be conducting interviews Thursday with Solid Gospel Radio and Friday with Paul Heil of the “Gospel Greats”. If you happen to be going to NQC come see us at our booth 682/583.

Be sure to check out our “Tour Schedule” for September because we have great concerts lined up in Texas, Indiana, and Tennessee.
If you hadn’t picked your copy of our brand new CD “Great Big God”, you can order that right off our website, or come to one of our concerts. We’re getting a lot of great reports from people telling us how much they’re enjoying this new project. I have to tell that makes feel good, because I absolutely love this CD myself.
Be sure to send in your prayer requests to us. You can enter your prayer request on our website, or call or email our office. Our phone number is 936-273-3074 and our email address is info@paulsjourneyonline.com .

I hope we see you soon. We love you all, and appreciate your prayers and support.

God bless,
Rod

August 2010

Hello everyone; I sure hope your summer is going well! I don't know about you, but summer is sure going by fast here. Of course, down here in the south that's a good thing; normally our summers here in South Texas are HOT, HOT, HOT!!!

Paul's' Journey is doing well. I will say that we probably had one of the slowest first halves of the year that I can remember. Our singings were down, and this has hurt us in several ways. The biggest way was, of course, in our finances. But by God's grace we made it through. August seems to be a good month. We'll just have to see how we fare through the rest of this year. Our services have been great! We've seen people getting saved and we've seen God using us in a mighty way, so Praise God for that!
You know I've always thought of our group as a ministry. That's been one thing that's always been clear to me. I was reading a letter from our name sake (the Apostle Paul) the other day. It was 2 Corinthians 2: 14-17 and it really ministered to me. It says; 14. But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place. 15. For we are a fragrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing; 16. To the one an aroma from death to death, to the other an aroma from life to life. And who is adequate for these things? 17. For we are not like many, peddling the word of God, but as from sincerity, we speak in Christ in the sight of God. I know what we do week after week is not in vain, because the lives of those that we sing and minister to are being changed. Some are being saved and others are just drawing closer to the Lord. So please pray for our ministry - that God will continue to use us everywhere we go, and that all of our needs will be met.

Our new CD "Great Big God" is finally out, and please take my word for it folks, it's a good one! You can order yours on our website, or you can pick one up at our next concert. It doesn't matter how you get it, it only matters that you do.

Friday, August 6 at 2:00 PM and at 7:30 PM Paul's Journey will be celebrating our 33rd Anniversary at the Texas Gospel Jamboree in Magnolia, TX. There are some tickets left for each of these time slots so be sure to call our office at 936-273-3074 and get your tickets now. You do not want to miss this one. The first half of our celebration concert we'll debute our brand new CD "Great Big God" and during the second half, we are going to take you back in time to classics of the quartets. We're going to have a blast. You just have to there!

We're real busy the rest of the month, so please check our schedule to see if we are coming to a city near you. We've love to see you there!
Dianne and I are staying busy at the radio station in Jasper, TX. I have a show every day during the week at 1:00 PM when I'm not singing somewhere. It's called "Live with Rod", so join me when you can. You can listen by going to www.1027ktxj.com. Hit the "Listen Live" menu and there we are, live 24 hours a day. We're in the process of having a new website built, and it will be up any day now.

Thank you all so much for your prayers. Paul's Journey couldn't make it without you. Be sure to let us know about your needs as well. We want to pray for you. You can email our office or just go to our website and enter your prayer requests there. I promise, we pray for each one.
Until next month, God bless you all!

July 2010

I hope everyone of you are having a great summer! I know it's hot in most places, but summer is all about having a little fun, isn't it? It's vacation time for most families, weekends at the lake, visiting relatives, and so forth. Summer church camps are always in the mix during the summer, and don't forget Vacation Bible School. You see what I mean. Summer is a time to just relax and have a little fun. There's nothing wrong with that.

Speaking of having fun, that's exactly what Paul's Journey and our families plan on doing as we leave out on our annual "Victory Gospel Cruise" July 20-27. This year we're going to Alaska, and yes we plan on having some FUN!! We do have to do a little work on our cruises, but we still make time to spend with our families and to get a little rest and relaxation. We're going to a have great cruise this year! We're taking about 350 cruisers with us, and some of our best singing friends as well.

We start the month out on July 4th at South Drive Baptist Church in Channelview, TX for their "Red, White, and Blue Sunday Celebration". We have a great time with these folks every year! Then we're off to West Texas for four days making stops in Amarillo, Dumas, Dalhart, and back Dumas. Check out our Tour Schedule for times and locations to these concerts. The folks out in West Texas are always ready for Paul's Journey, so I know it's going to be good! On July 17 -18 we'll be in New Caney, TX, Buffalo, TX, and end up at First Baptist Church in Fresno, TX. Again you can check our schedule for times and locations of these events. Come see us!!

Our brand new CD "Great Big God" comes out this month as well. You can pick up your copy at one of our concerts, or go to the Online Store on our website and order your copy today. Folks, trust me when I say this is one of the best CD's that Paul's Journey has ever recorded. I believe you're going to love it. With a title like "Great Big God" what can you expect, right?

We're getting a lot of calls and emails from you about the radio station, and we appreciate all of your comments. Go to our website at www.1027ktxj.com and you can listen to our live broadcasting 24 hours a day. That's a lot of Southern Gospel Music! Let us know what you think.
If you have a prayer request that you would like Paul's Journey to pray about just call our office at 936-273-3074 or email me at rod@paulsjourneyonline.com. I promise we WILL pray for each need. That's what our ministry is all about.

God bless you all, Rod

June 2010

Hello everyone! I hope this month of June is going well for you. Paul's Journey is doing well, and thank God we're starting to get a little busier. The first quarter of this year has been a bit slower for us, but it looks like our schedule is beginning to pick up and that's good news.

Sunday morning June 13th we will be returning to Central Baptist Church in Buna, TX. We’ve always had a great time there with Delbert Milstead and all the church. That night we will be at First Baptist Church Loeb in Lumberton, TX with our good friend, and past member of our group, David Thornhill. Maybe we can get David to play the piano along with us as we sing. He can really play a piano! On June 18th we will be in Magnolia, TX for our "Texas Gospel Jamboree". Our special guest will be "The Stanley's" from Zavala, TX, and another past member of the group, "Jeremy Partlow". You don't want to miss this one. If you don't have your tickets yet call or office right away and make your reservations. We're going to have a ball! On Tuesday June 22nd we're looking forward to singing for the Evergreen Baptist Association's Sr. Adult Luncheon at First Baptist Church in Willis, TX. Then on June 26th we will be singing with "Mark Lowery" from the Gaither Vocal Band at Lavon Drive Baptist Church in Garland, TX. We'll be there that Saturday night and stay over for the Sunday morning service the next day. That should be a lot of fun. Come join us if you can.

Our new CD entitled "Great Big God" should be released just in time for our Alaskan Cruise in July. So be watching for that release date. Folks, I really believe you're going to love this CD. It has some great songs on it, and I think it's some of the best work we've ever done.

I hope you like the new look of our website. Let us know what you think. We're always looking for ways to improve our site just for you.

Dianne, myself, and Ryan are staying pretty busy at the radio station. If you want listen to what's going on there go to www.1027ktxj.com and hit the "Listen Live" button. We have some great Southern Gospel Music playing 24 hours a day.

God bless,
Rod

We are in the last stages of our brand new recording called "Great Big God". Folks you better get ready for this one. In my opinion it's the best one we've ever done. There are a lot of great songs on this CD, and Randall and Ryan wrote several of them. I believe you're going to like it too.

The month of May brings us Mother's Day and we'll celebrate that day in fashion once again at Westend Baptist Church in Industry, TX and Clay Road Baptist in Houston. Be sure to check our schedule for start times and come join us.

Some other places we'll be this month is First Baptist Church in Portland, TX and Kirby Baptist in San Antonio. Second Baptist in Midland, Tanglewood Baptist in Odessa, and Salem Sayers Baptist in San Antonio. Again check our schedule for dates and start times.

Summer is around the corner and so is our Alaskan Cruise. We're taking about 330 people with us this year and we're all going to have a blast. If you've never gone on one of our cruises you just have make this one of your vacation choices. You'll be glad you did.

March 2010

Well hello everyone! First of all I need to apologize for not writing a newsletter in February. We've had a lot going on around here and I have to say that I just forgot. I'll share with you a little later why we've been so busy.

Paul's Journey is doing well. I must admit that we've had a slow couple of months, but it looks like we're fixing to get pretty busy starting this month, so thank God for that!
March 12 we'll be in Zavala, TX at Abundant Life Church. This will be our first time there so we're really looking forward to it. We'd like to invite all of our East Texas friends to come out and enjoy this night with us. The next night we'll be at Pisgah Baptist Church in Florien, LA. I know we're going to have a great time there so you need to make plans to be a part of this one. On Sunday night March 14 we'll be back in East Texas at Votaw Worship Center in Votaw, TX. I hope we get to see you there! We'll also be going back to "The Hill Country" this month and then back up to north East Texas. Be sure to go to our schedule page to see where and when.

We'll be recording a brand new CD within the next few months, and I believe you're really going to like this one. It's going to be an a cappella CD. This CD is going to be full of some of yours and our favorite hymns; it will be entirely without music . It should be ready for release sometime in July. As soon as we get finished with that, we'll be starting on another brand new CD, and we are so excited about the songs that have been picked out for this new recording! Be listening and watching for more news on this new CD.

I mentioned to you at the beginning about how we have been so busy. About a month ago me and my wife (Dianne) partnered in with Pete and Telissa Calfee and purchased 102.7 KTXJ FM Radio in Jasper, TX. We've actually been working five days a week at the station since January. KTXJ is a 24-hour all gospel radio station and we are both honored to be a part of this new ministry opportunity that God has bestowed on us. I look at this as another door that God has opened for us to be able to minister His word to a bigger audience. KTXJ already has been rated as the #1 most listened to radio station in East Texas and West Louisiana. We literally have thousands of listeners every day. It is amazing! God has opened a door for us to minister His word and His song to thousands of people every single day. PRAISE THE LORD!!!! This is a wonderful opportunity for us personally and for Paul's Journey as well, so please be praying for us. The driving and the work load has been pretty strenuous on our bodies, but I know God is going to take care of us. We hope you, our friends, are as excited about this new venture as we are. We'll be sharing with you about the new KTXJ website very soon where you will be able to listen to the radio station live every day on your computer.

We want to thank everyone again for all your prayers and support. I also want to encourage you to send your prayer requests in to us. There is a place on our website for you to list your prayer request. Not only we will we pray for you and your needs, but so will thousands of other people who go to our website each week.

We love you all!!
Rod

January 2010

Happy New Year everyone! It's my prayer that 2010 will the best year you've ever had. I have to admit that I'm also praying for that to happen for Paul's Journey as well. Will you team up with us and pray that God will open doors for our ministry that have never been opened before, and that He would use us in a way that we've never been used before? We sure would appreciate it.

I must say we had a tremendous December. Our "Light A Candle" Christmas Tour was well received everywhere we went. We had great time as usual at "Christmas in the Smokies"! The next weekend we sang at Chad's Church, "Christ The Great Shepherd" and the next morning we sang with our friends New Day at their home church, "Trinity Life" in Garland, TX. The next weekend we had our annual Christmas Jamboree here in Magnolia and had two great concerts. We left there and drove nine hours to Midland, TX where we sang at "Second Baptist Church". We teamed up with their choir on a couple of songs and man, did we have a great concert! I hope you got to make one of these.

A lot of people got our new Christmas CD and many have said that it's the best CD that we've ever recorded. We'll have it available all year long, so if you didn't get your copy yet, be sure to do so. You can order it on our website or just get one at an upcoming concert. You'll be glad you did!

We took our end-of-the-year vacation and got to spend some precious time with our families. I look forward to that every year. Dianne and I got to spend some time with our grandkids and that's always a lot of fun! I know all the other guys enjoyed their time off too!
Now it's back to work. We actually end the year and start off the new year at Rosevine Missionary Baptist Church in Bronson, TX. On January 3 we'll be spending the day with our all wonderful friends at First Baptist Church in Fresno, TX. I am actually on staff at this church as their Evangelist. So we plan on having a wonderful day with the folks there at Fresno.

The next weekend we start our "Winter Texan Tour". We'll go down to the Rio Grande Valley and sing to all the "Snow Birds" - the northerners that spend the winter in south Texas. We team up with "The Texans" from Eureka Springs, AR, and we always have a great time. Be sure to check the Tour Schedule on our website to see where we're going to be in case you'll be there at the same time.
We still have some cabins left on our 2010 Alaskan Cruise so go ahead and make your plans to come along with us. It's the vacation of a life time and you get to hear gospel music every night on a cruise ship. It just doesn't get any better than that! You can call our office for information at 936-273-3074 or go to our website click on Fan Fun, scroll down to Let's Vacation and you'll find an application right there. Come go with us. You be glad you did.

We want to thank everyone again for all your prayers and support. I also want to encourage you to send your prayer requests in to us. There is a place on our website for you to list your prayer request. Not only we will we pray for you and your needs, but so will thousands of other people who go to our website each week. We love you all!!

December 2009

Hello everyone! I'm a little late with this newsletter and for that I do apologize. We've been on the road for about the last 10 days and I'm just falling behind here in the office. So here we go!

Let me start off by saying that I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We each got to spend time with our own families and it was great! A little turkey for lunch and a little football that afternoon. It just doesn't get any better.
We started out the month of December at Christmas In The Smokies in Pigeon Forge, TN. Man, did we have a ball! We had a good showing from Texas too. We had about 32 people go with us. You just have to make this trip with us next year. Once you go you'll want to return every year, it's that much fun!

We'll be presenting our Paul's Journey Christmas production entitled "Light A Candle" five more
times in December. We'll be at Christ the Great Shepherd Church in Sanger, TX on Saturday
December 12, and Trinity Life Baptist Church in Garland, TX on Sunday, December 13. We will
have two performances at our Texas Gospel Jamboree in Magnolia, TX on Friday, December
18, and we will be at Second Baptist Church in Midland, TX on Sunday, December 20. Be sure
to check our website for the times and locations of these events. You'll not want to miss this
Christmas production. There'll be plenty of Christmas songs, plenty of laughter, and some
wonderful videos. All celebrating the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. I hope we get to see you
at one of these concerts!

Christmas time is a time for blessings. God blessed us all on the first Christmas by giving us the
greatest gift known to mankind: His very own son. This Christmas, do your very best to bless
someone else. Light a Candle for someone this year that you know needs a blessing. Make a
promise to pray for that person or persons. Maybe go see them or give them a call. Bring them
some food or maybe a gift or two. Folks, that's what Christmas is all about. That's what Jesus
is all about. Be a blessing this Christmas! We want to wish everyone of you a very merry
Christmas!

We want to thank everyone again for all your prayers and support. I also want to encourage you to send your prayer requests in to us. There is a place on our website for you to list your prayer request. Not only we will we pray for you and your needs, but so will thousands of other people who go to our website each week. We love you all!!

November 2009

November is here, which tells me that the end of the year is getting very close. It also tells me that Thanksgiving is just around the corner. I know I've said this before, but Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I love the food, and the atmosphere, but most of all I just love being with my family on Thanksgiving. I'm so thankful for my family, and the many blessings that God has bestowed on to me in my life. Be sure to spend some quality time with your family this Thanksgiving! You'll be glad you did.

We're not super busy this month but we're singing every week, thank God. We start off the month at Springtown Baptist Temple, in Springtown, TX. This is another annual event for us that we look forward to every year. The next weekend we have a long haul between a couple of bookings. We're at First Baptist Church in Diboll, TX on Sunday night which is in East Texas, and then we cross the state to be at Trinity Baptist in Denver City, TX the next night. For those of you that don't know where Denver City is, it's almost on the New Mexico line. I need to have a long talk with our booking agent. LOL! The next weekend we're back in East Texas again at Bethel Chapel Missionary Baptist in Pineland on Saturday night the 14th , and at Tanglewood Baptist on Sunday morning of the 15th.
The next weekend is a big weekend for us. November 20th is the "Texas Gospel Jamboree". We have two programs that day. One at 2:00 PM and the other at 7:30 PM. Our special guest is "ChristWay Quartet" from Sulphur, LA. Be sure to call the office and get your tickets ahead of time. These seats are almost gone. After the jamboree we're headed to Louisiana. We'll be at Antioch Baptist Church in Edgerly, LA on Sunday morning. This is where we sang our first concert as the Relations Quartet over 32 years ago! It's always a pleasure to go back there. That night we'll be at Houston River Baptist in Sulphur. We hope to see all of our the Relations Quartet Louisiana friends and family.

Our Houston Golf Tournament was rained out in October, so we have rescheduled it to November 23. If you couldn't make it in October, come join us on November 23. We'd love to have you! This is being held as a fundraiser for our ministry. Check the website for more information or call our office at 936-273-3074.
We want to thank everyone again for all your prayers and support. Also, let me encourage you to send your prayer requests in to us. There is a place on our website for you to list your prayer request. Not only we will we pray for you and your needs but so will thousands of other people who go to our website each week.

We love you all!!

October 2009

Well summer has finally gone and fall has arrived. It's late September and we have our first cool weather. I love it! I have to tell you, other than the allergies, this is my favorite time of the year. Of course living here in southeast Texas, we pretty much have allergy season all year long.

I told you last month that I would report on our El Salvador Mission Trip. This would have to be one of the most memorable things this ministry has ever been a part of. We went on this trip as a part of Compassion International. We teamed up with Compassion in January of this year, and it has been nothing short of a blessing working with this wonderful ministry! Compassion International is a child development ministry that works through local churches in third-world countries all over the world. We got to see firsthand how Compassion works through the lives of these poverty-stricken kids. Each one of us probably took something different home with us from our experience while there El Salvador, and very soon we will be adding a page to our website devoted to telling about each our experiences. I just want to share with you one thing that I noticed while I was there. We went to three different projects while we were there, and at each one all the kids met us with balloons and streamers shouting and singing with big smiles on their faces. They expressed so much love and joy and showed their appreciation for the fact that we took time to come and visit them. They sang for us at each project, and we had to get up and sing for them as well. I thought to myself, "how much joy these kids have for God!" That was at the church. Then they took us to where some of these kids lived and I couldn't believe my eyes. I’ve never seen poverty like I saw there. These families had nothing. Little tin shacks with no ventilation at all, and many of them had dirt floors. There was no running water. They bathed, washed their dishes and their clothes outside. I thought, "these kids have nothing yet they express such joy!" Then I realized why. You see folks, God means everything to these people because they don't have anything else. That's why they can express their joy for God like they do. Here in the good ole' USA we have everything we can possibly want, so we seem to take God for granted. I have to say, my life was changed forever.

We had a good time at the National Quartet Convention. We saw several of our Texas friends there and many others from around the country. We got to sing at our appointed times and that was pretty cool, but we got an extra time slot to debut a brand new song that Ryan, Randall, and Mark (Ryan's Dad) wrote for Compassion. The name of the song is "Will You Be the One". We were asked to sing this song after Compassion representatives made a plea to the audience. That was awesome! It's a great song and we have it available as a single for anyone who would like to have the song. Every copy we sell we will donate half of the proceeds to Compassion.

Well, October is another busy month for us. We start out by going to the Panhandle of Texas. We'll be working on two "Texas Music Jubilee's" while we're there. Check our schedule for locations and times. October is also the month that we make our annual visit to Gilmer, TX for the Yamboree Gospel Music Festival. We've been doing this event for about ten years now. It just gets bigger and better every year.

Another annual event that we do every October is the "Super Sunday" at Rosanky Baptist Church in Rosanky, TX. We always have a great time there!

Monday, October 26 we will be hosting the "Paul's Journey Open" golf tournament at Bear Creek Golf Course in Houston, TX. Check our website for more details and applications. If you pre-register you will receive four FREE rounds of golf at four locations in the Houston area. There will also be a putting contest that givers someone the opportunity to win $5000.00. We're hosting this event for the fun and fellowship, but it is also a fund raiser for our ministry. So get signed up now.
Until next month, I want to thank each one of you for your prayers and support. Please keep it up. We couldn't do what we do without you. Also, please keep sending in your prayer requests. I promise we pray for each one. We love you all!!!

God bless,
Rod

September 2009

Howdy folks! As I write this article we are about to be leaving out for a five day mission trip to El Salvador. I would have loved to share with you this month about our experience, but since we will be gone the first four days of September, I was told we need to get the e-letter out before we leave. I guess that will just give me something to talk about next month! If you get this e-mail before September 1, please begin praying for us. I believe God has a great work for us to do, but we need our prayer warriors to lift us up daily. Believe me the devil is doing everything he can to stop us! Isn't it good to know that the bible tells in 1 John 4:4 that "greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world". You see, the devil may be able to slow us down at times but he can't stop us.  I also want to thank the ones who supported us financially towards our trip. It would have been hard for us to make this trip without you. I know God has some wonderful blessings in store for you!

One thing to talk about this month is the biggest Southern Gospel Music concert of the year. That's right, the National Quartet Convention starts on September 14 and runs through September 19. We have a busy week planned while we're there in Louisville, KY. We'll be singing two of those days and we have several radio interviews already lined up as well, including an interview with Paul Heil from the "The Gospel Greats" radio program. I know we'll be seeing many of our friends from around the country while we're there so if you happen to be going to NQC this year, come by our booth #583 and say hello. If you've never been to NQC then you need to make plans to go. If you love gospel music this is the place to be!

On our way there we'll be singing in Centralia, IL, O'Fallon, IL , and Bloomington, IN. On the way home we'll be singing in Portland, TN and Columbia, TN. If we don't get to see you at NQC maybe you could make it to one of these singings.
Well, I guess that's about it for this month. I want thank each one of you for your prayers. I also want to thank you for sending your prayer requests in to us. We pray for each one, so keep them coming in. We love you all!

God bless,
Rod

August 2009

Every August we celebrate another year in the ministry. On August 7 this year we will be celebrating 32 years in ministry. Believe me, every time I say that it makes my back hurt. I've been here every one of those 32 years. I've traveled well over a million highway miles from one end of this country to the other and top to bottom several times. We've had some good times and not so good times, but I would say that all of these 32 years have been very rewarding. God has given this ministry, and me, the opportunity to lead hundreds if not thousands of people to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. So if you ask me if it’s been worth it, I would have to say, most definitely.

Thirty-one of those years we traveled as the Relations Quartet. In June of 2008 we changed our name to Paul's Journey. Many people thought that I was crazy to change our name after so many years, but I have to tell you that God has honored that change and we are more determined than ever before to carry out His will. The current group of young men that God has placed in this ministry is some of the greatest guys that I have ever worked with. Our goals and mission are headed in the same direction and God honors that. God has opened up some wonderful new doors for us to lift up the name of Jesus and we're ready to walk through those doors. People ask me when I’m going to retire, and I’ll tell you, I don't know when that is. But I do know that when I do, I'll be leaving this ministry in good hands.

I mentioned celebrating our anniversary on August 7. We'll be doing that at the "Texas Gospel Jamboree" in Magnolia, TX. Our 7:30 PM performance is already sold out, but we've gone ahead and added a 2:00 PM matinee. So, if you would like to come to that be sure to call our office at 936-273-3074 and make your reservation. You don't want to miss this happy celebration!

We'll be leaving out August 31 for a five-day mission trip to El Salvador (just one of the many new doors that God has opened for us) with Compassion International. We're all very excited to see how God is going to use us while we're there! You can be a very important part of this as well. First of all, you can pray for us every day August 31 through September 4. You can also help us financially by sending in your donations to help support this trip. Some of our expenses have already been met and we are so grateful to those who have given. Will you be the next one to help us present Jesus Christ to these kids? You can be; just call our office 936-273-3074 and find out how.
Thank you all so much for being there for us. Thank you for your prayers and support. We love you all!

God bless,
Rod

July 2009

Hi folks! I just want you to know that it’s such a pleasure for me to share this article with you each month. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I do writing it.

Well I have to say “Praise God”, because we were very busy in June, and to tell you the truth, we needed it. March, April, and May were solid months but our finances were down quite a bit, so the month of June kind of helped us to get back on track.

We started out the month at Harmony Baptist in Normangee, TX. The folks there wanted an old time gospel quartet singing so that’s what we gave them. The next morning we were with Bro. Delbert Milstead at Central Baptist in Buna, TX, and man! Did we have a wonderful service. That night we went to First Baptist Loeb in Lumberton, TX and had a great time with my old buddy David Thornhill, who is the Music Minister there.

The next week we went on our “Texas Hill Country Tour”. We were in Fredericksburg, Spring Branch, San Antonio, and Schertz, TX. All of these were good services and well attended.

We started Father’s Day weekend with our “Texas Gospel Jamboree” here in Magnolia, TX. We took our sell-out crowd back in time with Classic Quartet style singing, and they loved it! We even had a segment where we sang with two old 50’s-looking microphones. Get this - we even combed our hair! Those of you who know Paul’s Journey know that our hair is usually spiked, flat ironed, or anything but combed. It was a great evening! We spent Father’s Day at Union Grove Baptist in Gladewater, TX and that evening at Emmanuel Baptist in White Oak, TX. It was good day!

We ended the month of June at the First Christian Church in Clovis, NM. We’ve been going to this church for several years and always have a good service there. Then we moved on to 2nd Baptist in Midland, TX and to Trinity Baptist in Denver City, TX. We had good services at both these churches.

We have another busy month coming up in July and I’m looking forward to seeing how God is going to use Paul’s Journey in these services. Be sure to check our schedule and see if we’re going to be near you.

We’re scheduled to leave for our El Salvador Mission Trip on August 31. We’re going with Compassion International. Compassion is a child development ministry that mainly takes care of under-privileged children around the world, working through the local churches in these countries. They not only take care of the children’s personal needs but they also take care of their spiritual needs as well by introducing Jesus Christ to these kids. 154,000 kids got saved last year through the efforts of Compassion. So, we are going to get to be part of this excitement on our mission trip to El Salvador. Did I mention that we can’t wait? We are all so excited to see how God will use us while we are there. You can be a part of this as well.

Thank you again for your prayers and support. I’ve said this many times; we couldn’t make it without you.

Be sure to get those prayers requests in to us. I promise, we pray for each one. Folk’s, God is good and He hears our prayers!

Until next month, God bless you all!

June 2009

Well, it's June and summer is upon us. I don't know how it is where you live, but here it is already hot and humid. I guess that's what air conditioning is for though. I know it feels a lot better inside than out! I guess that's enough about the weather. Let's get on with the article.

We had a pretty good May. We sang every weekend but we were not as busy as we needed to be. We started out in Livingston, TX where we sang for the "Relay for Life Cancer Benefit". We helped to raise $295,000.00. There were several thousand people there that night, and it was an honor for Paul's Journey to be a part of this event. Some of you may not know that I lost a son and a mother to cancer, and I'm all about trying to help find a cure for this terrible disease.

Speaking of mothers, we went back to West End Baptist Church in Industry, TX on Mother's Day morning and Clay Road Baptist Church that night. These two churches have become an annual stop for us on Mother's Day, and I have to say we had a great service in both of these churches.

We also took our mid-year vacation in May. We ended up with twelve days off which was nice, but Dianne (my wife) sure had plans for me! Since our youngest daughter was still in school, she had us working in the yard every day. I sure was glad to get back to singing so I could rest. However, the yard really looks great!

There are some things taking place in June that I want to remind you about. First of all, we're having our "Texas Gospel Jamboree" on June 19. If you like the old-time Southern Gospel Quartet styled singing, then you need to make plans to be there. We're going to be wearing matching suits, matching shirts and ties and all four of us will actually have our hair combed. It would be worth the ticket price just to see that. Imagine Ryan with his hair combed. WOW! If you want to join us there you’ll need to call Dianne NOW and get your tickets. We're almost sold out. Just call our office at 936-273-3074.

I also want to remind you to go online at www.diamondwards.com and vote for Paul's Journey. We have been nominated for a Diamond Award and we are in the top five category for "Sonrise Group of the Year". This is a fan-based award and we can only win if you vote. I've said this many times; it's really not about us winning these awards, but it sure is nice to know that people around the country think that much about you. Thank you all very much!
We have a pretty full schedule in June. Please check out our "Tour Schedule" to see if we're coming to a city near you. If so, please come see us!

One more thing! If you a have something that you would want us to pray with you about or to pray for, please don't hesitate to let us know. I promise you, we take these prayer requests very seriously.

Until next month, God bless you all!
Rod

May 2009

Hello everyone. Let me start off by saying that God is such a good God! I hope all of you are enjoying His blessings in your life. If not, stop what you're doing right now and just reflect on what God has done for you in the past month, or week, or even this very day. I bet you can come up with something good. It's a fact, God wants to bless His children.
Paul's Journey was very busy in April. We started off singing for the First Baptist Church of The Woodlands, TX. We had a good singing and a wonderful meal. That night we went to Heritage Baptist Church in Tomball, TX. This was our first time at both these churches and we were blessed. On Good Friday April 10, we sang at First Baptist Church in Willis, TX and man did we have a singin'! The place was almost full. Those folks came to have a good time and they did, and we did too! Then on Easter Sunday we made our annual run to Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Tulsa, OK, and let me just say God showed up on that day. We had several people get saved and many more re-dedications. It was awesome!

The month continued on in places like Lexington, Columbus, and LaGrange, TX. These were all new churches for us but we hope it won't be our last. We had great services in all of these churches. We ended the month at Pine Forest Baptist in Onalaska, TX and then on to the First Assembly of God in Humble, TX. What a day! Two great services!
On Saturday April 25 we attended the South Texas Gospel Music Association's annual convention in San Antonio, TX. They have an awards program every year and Paul's Journey won several awards. Our latest radio single "Grace Is Never Far" won Song of the Year. Chad won Song Writer of the Year, and Randall won the award for Favorite Male Vocalist in a Group. We want to thank everyone in the association that voted for us. Awards is not what we are about, but at the same time, it makes you feel good to know that people enjoy what you do.

We also finished up another recording in April. This one is a brand new Christmas CD, and I think everyone is going to love it! It's got some good traditional Christmas songs on it but also has some brand new songs that I think you're going to enjoy. It should be out in July of this year.  Speaking of new CD's. "Farther", our new Inspirational Praise and Worship CD is out as of May 1. You can order your copy now right off our website or you can call our office at 936-273-3074. "Farther" is a little different than anything we've ever done before. We wanted to record a CD that expressed our love for God through our praise and worship and "Farther" does just that. I believe you will love it as much as we do!

Be sure to check out our schedule for May to see if we're going to be singing close to your area. If so, come see us! Our mid-year vacation starts on May 18 so we will be off the road for about 10 days. Our office we will be closed during this time as well.

Please keep your prayer requests coming in. I promise we will pray for each one. God Is A Great God!

Until next time, God bless you all!
Rod

April 2009

Hi everyone, it’s time for me to share some Paul’s Journey news with you; things that God has done in the last few weeks and some of the doors He’s opened for us in weeks to come. So here goes!

Let me just say that March was an exciting month for us. We started in Del City, OK at the First Church of the Nazarene and man, did we have a great time there! We always do though. Sister Vera and all the church members there always go out of their way to make sure of that. From there, we went Midway Hill Baptist Church in Davis/Sulphur, OK. I have to say we had church that night. The next weekend we sang at Chad and Randall’s old home church, Christ The Great Shepherd in Sanger, TX. The church was almost full. Can I just say that the Holy Spirit showed up that night? WOW, what a service!

On March 20, we hosted our first ever golf tournament called “The Paul’s Journey Open”. Quite fitting don’t you think? It was held in San Antonio, TX and everyone that participated had a great time. We will be hosting our next golf tournament on October 26 in Houston. So all you golf fanatics, be sure to get signed up for that one. I promise you’ll have the time of your life!

On March 22 we started a 4-day revival at Skyline Baptist Church in Alvin, TX and folks, we had revival! I want to thank Pastor Bill Murphy, his wife Vickie and the rest of the church for making our time there so special. Then we finished up the month in the Texas Hill Country. Kirby Baptist in San Antonio (which had a full house that night) and with all our good friends at Believers Fellowship in New Braunfels.

In April we’ll be back in the studio recording a brand new Christmas CD. We’ve picked out some wonderful Christmas songs for this project. Of course they’ll all have that special “Paul’s Journey touch” on them. It should be released sometime in July.

Speaking of new recordings, our brand new CD “Farther” will be out by the end of April or the first of May. I have to tell you folks, I love every song on this CD! I’m calling this one our very first Praise and Worship CD. If you enjoy praising and worshiping our Lord and Savior then you’re going to like this CD too!

We, or might I say God, got us a new rig to travel in. It is 24 ft. Dodge Sprinter. It’s powered by a Mercedes diesel engine and we’re already seeing better fuel economy than in our last vehicle. Thank God for that! There’s a lot of folks out there that were praying for our transportation needs and some of you even went beyond that and actually contributed to us financially. I just want to say thank you. Because of you we are blessed!

We’re pretty busy singing this month so be sure to check out our “Tour Schedule” on our web site to find out where we’re going to be. We’d love for you to come join us! God has really been doing some awesome things in our services and you’ll enjoy being a part of that.

Keep those prayer requests coming in. Each of us takes time through out the day to pray for every one of your requests. God is so good!

Until next time, God bless you all!
Rod

March 2009

Hi everyone! What a joy it is to write this newsletter every month! I enjoy sharing with you what’s going on in the ministry of Paul’s Journey.

February was a very busy month for us. The first weekend we sang at the largest Spanish Baptist Church in the state of Texas. We had good crowd to sing to, but the amazing thing that happened that night was that seven people accepted Jesus as their savior. Can I get a great big Amen from you? We were all blessed that night.

Of course the devil, not wanting to be out-done managed to strike a blow on us the next day. The transmission in our van burned up. We had it replaced on a Monday, and on Tuesday Pastor Harvey Abke from First Baptist Church in Fresno, TX (where we were supposed to have started a revival that Sunday) called and said the new transmission had been paid for. Can I get another Amen? God is so good! We finally made it to the revival on Wednesday and ended up having a wonderful time in the Lord.

Our annual “Victory Gospel Cruise” was a total success. Everyone that went with us had a great time! Be sure to be watching our website for the 2010 cruise; you just have to be a part of the next one!

We finished recording a brand new CD called “Farther”. This new project has some great “Praise and Worship” songs on it. I believe there’s something for everyone on this CD. “Farther” should be ready for May release.

This month we’ll be heading up to visit our very good friends at the First Nazarene Church in Del City, OK. These folks know how to have a good time, and they are not ashamed to praise the Lord. After that, we’ll be holding a four-day revival at Skyline Baptist Church in Alvin, TX. We’re looking forward to seeing all of our friends there. If you happen to be in that area, come by and see us.

March 20th is the date for our first annual golf tournament. It’s called the Paul’s Journey Open. It’s going to be held at Willow Springs golf course in San Antonio, TX. This is being held as a benefit for our ministry. So please, if you like to play golf come join us. For more details just check our web site.

I would like to ask you to pray for us. We are in dire need of new transportation. I mentioned earlier about having to replace our transmission in the van. Now our mechanics are telling me that we need a new engine as well. The van is 9 years old and to tell you the truth I believe it’s just wearing out. So please pray that God would direct us on the right path in purchasing a new vehicle and that it will be affordable as well.

Thank you for sending your prayer request in to the web site. I promise we pray for each one individually, so keep them coming our way.

Until next time, God bless you all!

February 2009

Hey folks, I hope everyone is doing well. We had a great month in January and we’re looking forward to an even better month in February.  One thing is sure, we’re still busy (Praise God)!

We’re on the road 3 full weeks in the month of February.  The first week we go back down the Rio Grande Valley.  Our first stop is in Pharr, TX at Texas Trails RV Resort.  While we’re gone, we’ll be in Alice, TX, San Antonio, TX and back down to Donna, TX at Victoria Palms RV Resort.  Be sure to check our Tour Schedule to find out the dates and times to all these places.  I hope we get see you there!

The second week we’ll be back at First Baptist Church of Fresno, TX for a 5 day revival.  Paul’s Journey is missioned out of this church so I guess you can say this is the home church of our ministry.  I’m the Staff Evangelist of that church as well, and we always have good revival there.  We’re really looking forward to the revival!

The next week we go on our “Victory Gospel Cruise”.  We have a number of people going with us this year and good line up of artists. I know we’re going to have great time!  You know we go on one of these cruises every year.  If you’ve never been with us you need to make plans right now for next year!  We’ll be advertising the 2010 cruise by late spring.  It may be happening in the late fall instead of the spring; we’ll get details out as soon as we know.
On February 20, the night before we leave for the cruise, we’ll be having our “Texas Gospel Jamboree” in Magnolia.  Our special guest will be the exciting trio “New Day” from Fate, TX.  Be sure to get your tickets now!  I promise you’ll have a good time.

We’re also finishing up a brand new recording this month called “Farther”.  I love to sing praises to my Lord, and we have some wonderful praise songs on this new project.  I believe you’re going to like it as much as we do!  Be looking for more information about the release of “Farther” on our web site.

It seems that everywhere we turn, we see or hear bad news.  The economy is bad.  People are losing their jobs and their homes.  Well, let me share with you a little good news... In Joshua 1:5 and we hear it again in Hebrews 13:5; "God said he would never leave us or forsake us".  We have that promise and I choose to accept the good news of the Lord.  So keep you heads up and keep your focus on God.  He will not let you down.

Until next time God bless!  We really do love you all!

January 2009

Here we are in a brand new year and I have to say, I’m glad it’s here. 2008 is finally gone and all I can say is good riddance! It was a tough year all around. The gas prices shot up to unbelievable highs. The stock market plummeted with many people losing a great deal of money. Some people lost their jobs and their homes. 2008 is a year most people would just like to forget. But you know what? God is God, and He is still in control. I’m looking forward to this New Year ahead. It seems God is already opening doors for us that, up until now have been closed. I’m excited to see where He wants to take Paul’s Journey.

We had the best December that I can ever remember. We had a ball at “Christmas in the Smokies”; you just have to come with us next year. Our annual “Christmas Jamboree” was a total success. Both performances were well-attended. All of our church concerts were great too! We were in Spring City, TN, Evans, LA Trinity, TX, Houston, TX, Point Blank, TX, Haltom City, TX, Jacksboro, TX, and Jasper, TX. Decisions were made in almost every service! Then we took our end-of-the-year vacation to spend some much-needed time with our families. All in all, we went out with a bang!!!!

We’re going to be busy as usual in January. We’ll be returning to Rockport this year to the “Gospel Music Festival”. From there we’re headed to the “Rio Grand Valley” for a solid week with our friends, “The Texans”. We’ll be in Combs, Weslaco, Mission, Alamo, and Harlingen, TX. Be sure to check our tour schedule on the website for places, dates, and times. I hope we get to see you at one of these concerts.

There’s still time to get on the February cruise. We’re not sold out yet, but we’re getting close. So what are you waiting for? Come on and sail away to the Caribbean with us. The date of the cruise is Feb. 21-26, 2009. You can visit our vacation page for more details.

I guess that’s about it for now. We want to thank each one of you that have supported us this past year with your prayers and financial gifts. I would like to ask, if you will, to continue to support us in this coming year. It would be hard for us to make it without you!

God bless you all!

December 2008

December is shaping up to be one of our busiest of all times. Of course I’m grateful for that, but at the same time it takes us away from our families at a one of the most important times of the year. I also have to say, by this time of the year, I am one tired guy!

We start the month off in Pigeon Forge, TN (my favorite place in the country, by the way) at Christmas In The Smokies. This is an annual event for us. It’s three days and three nights of wonderful fun and fellowship, but never losing the real reason for Christmas. We have a great time every year. Some of you are going with us this year, and many of you have been before. If you’ve never gone, you need to make plans to go next year. I promise, you’ll have the time of your life!

November 2008

November is one of my favorite months of the year. Why, you say? It’s simple; I love Thanksgiving! I love the food, I love the family time of fellowship, and I love the opportunity of giving thanks to our Lord for all His blessings throughout the year. Did I mention the food? I want to wish all of you a very Happy Thanksgiving.

This November is especially important because we are electing our next President. Maybe even by the time you read this newsletter we will know who the man is. Whoever that man is, my prayer remains the same: That God will keep His hands and His control on this country. “God Bless America”.

We had a great time on November 2nd at Springtown Baptist Temple. We were there the entire day. I’m telling you, the Holy Spirit rained down Sunday night and we had church! I love those kinds of services! I want to thank Pastor White and all the folks there for being such wonderful hosts.

We start a six day revival on November 4th at Cowboys for Jesus Church in Fisher, TX. Fisher is about 15 miles or so west of San Marcos, TX. So, we want to invite all of our San Antonio, Kerrville, New Braunfels, and Austin friends to come on out for a great time of worship and revival. We’re going to have a blast kicking off the revival with a big youth rally on Tuesday night. From there, we go to “The Country Church” in Marion, TX. Marion is small town just east of San Antonio. It’s been almost three years since we’ve been to there, so invite everyone you know to this one. Let’s fill all those 2000 seats. I promise we’re going to have great time! On November 14th we’re having our fall “Texas Gospel Jamboree”. Our special guests are Jim and Shirley Proffit, who are coming to be with us all the way from Middletown, OH. This man and wife team has a wonderful ministry and WOW! Can they sing a song! I guarantee you’ll have a great time. It’s not too late to get your tickets. We have two concerts: 2:00 PM and 7:30 PM. Call our office at 936-273-3074 and order your tickets now. We’re also headed back to my hometown, DeQuincy, LA on November 16th. We’ll be singing at Bible Baptist Church that morning and we’ll be at Houston River Baptist Church in Sulphur, LA that night. It’s always good to see some of my old friends and relatives when we make our annual visit back to my hometown area. Be sure to check our November schedule to see if Paul’s Journey is coming to a town near you.

I want to ask every one of you to be in prayer for our ministry. We want to make sure that everything we do and every decision we make is based on God’s will for this ministry and for our personal lives as well. Of course when we do this, the old devil can’t stand it and he tries every way he can to stop us. He hasn’t succeeded yet; somehow I don’t think he will. Let me re-phrase that: I know he can’t stop us!!!!!

I also want to ask you to pray for our finances. You probably know that it costs a lot of money to keep this ministry on the road. We not only have to maintain a vehicle (which we put many miles a year on), and run a business office with the expenses that occur there, but as a full time ministry, we are the means of support for our four families. This is a full time job with the booking of concerts, maintenance of the vehicle and trailer, miscellaneous office work involved with our cruises and Jamborees, and the time spent on the road getting from concert to concert. Each day that we sing is about a 10-12 hour day. Believe me, it gets tough at times. Many people know that we sold our bus back in October of last year and since then, have been traveling in a van pulling a trailer. I have to admit it’s not nearly as nice as traveling in a bus, but it gets us where we’re going and I thank God for it. We are having some mechanical problems with the van right now, however. It seems our compressor has gone out and it’s going to cost over $1100.00 to fix it, which we do not have. Please be praying for us and I know God will hear your prayers. God meets our needs though you; He always does, and He always has come through.

Well, this has been a pretty lengthy newsletter so I guess I’ll close it out. We just want to thank each of you for your love and support and we hope to see you down the road!

God bless you,
Rod

October 2008

Howdy folks! I guess by now it’s no secret to anyone that Hurricane Ike made its way into our area last month. While this terrible storm devastated areas of Galveston Island, the Bolivar Peninsula, Orange and Beaumont Texas, I have to say we really had minimal damage. We had a couple of trees down, a much messed up yard, and were without power for a few days, but we had no damage to our house at all and no one was hurt. I want to thank every one of you who tried calling and sending emails checking to see if we were okay. Your thoughtfulness blessed our hearts. Please be in prayer for all the folks that have no home today and have lost their loved ones because of this terrible storm.

We had a lot of fun this year at the National Quartet Convention. Our brand new CD called “Transition” made its debut at NQC and everyone that’s heard it so far has commented about how much they love it. I have to say, I do too! It has some wonderful songs on it and like we’ve said all along, it has something on there for everyone. You can order your CD right from our web site or pick one up at our next concert. I promise you’ll love it too!

It seems the main topic on everyone’s lips these days is the failing economy. I’d be lying if I told you that it hasn’t affected us. We are a faith-based ministry and our concerts hosted by churches are handled on a love offering basis. I have to say that lately our love offerings have been on the decline and our sales as well. I just want ask each of you to be praying for our ministry. I know that God put this thing together many years ago and I still believe He has plan and a purpose for this ministry.

I also want to ask you to be praying for each individual member of this group, Rod, Ryan, Randall, and Chad. We all have our own individual needs, and believe me, life on the road and being constantly away from our families is tough. We need your prayers! Our families need your prayers! Pray for our individual finances and our health. Folks, you are the ones that keep us going and I know God hears your prayers.

October kicks off a very busy fall for us. The first weekend we start off in the Houston area including a Sunday morning in Rod and Dianne’s home church (Grace Point Fellowship). From there we go to Pavilion in the Pines in Jasper, TX. This concert is sponsored by KTXJ Radio. Then we’re headed back to the Panhandle the second week of October for our annual “Texas Singing Jubilee”. We’ll be in Herford and Dimmitt, TX. The next weekend we’ll be at the Yamboree Festival in Gilmer, TX. We always have a great time there. The last week we’ll be in Huntsville, Golden, Kerrville, Rosanky and Elgin, TX. Check our Tour Dates page on our web site for dates, times and locations to all of these concerts. I hope we see you there!

Be sure to send us your prayer request. I promise, we pray for each one that comes our way.

God bless you all!

September 2008

Hi folks! I have to tell you, these months are going by so fast! It seems like I was just writing my last newsletter, and here it is, time again for another one.

September is always an exciting time for all of us in the gospel music industry because it is the month of the granddaddy of all concerts. The National Quartet Convention is held each year on the second week of September in Louisville, KY. We’ll be there along with hundreds of other groups from around the country. If you love southern gospel music, then you have to make plans to go to this major event one year. This year’s dates are Sept. 8 – 13. That’s six days and nights of good ole’ gospel singing. I promise, you do get your money’s worth. If you do get to go or you already have tickets, come by and see us at booth #588. You can also hear us sing on Tuesday and Wednesday this year.

Also, we’ll debut our brand new CD called “Transition” at the National Quartet Convention. This is just my personal opinion, but I think this may be the best CD that this group has ever recorded! It’s been hard for me to pick out my favorite songs because I like them all. Ryan Chad, and Randall worked so hard on their singing parts and I am so proud of them. Of course, then the old man put his bass part in and WOW! The music tracks, along with the live orchestration just don’t get any better. Randall did all the graphics for the CD cover and it looks great. This our first production on our new Sanctuary Label and I want to thank Shane and Travis Roark and all the staff at Chapel Valley Studios for the hard work and long hours that you devoted to this project. You’ll have to get it and see for yourself. You’ll be able to order the new CD online in our store after September or you can come to one of our concerts and pick it up there.

Besides going to Kentucky in September we’ll also be singing in Illinois, Indiana, Arkansas, Georgia, and Alabama. So please be praying that the gas prices will keep coming down.

The guys are all doing great! Ryan’s son Noah and Chad’s little girl Zoe are both growing like weeds. Our families are doing great and we appreciate them so much for letting us do what we feel God has called us to do, and that is to share Jesus Christ wherever He sends us. That’s our desire folks.

Please keep praying that God will continue to open doors for this ministry and that we’ll have the wisdom and knowledge to walk through them.

We love you all, and until next time, keep a smile on your face and let God’s love shine through you!

August 2008

Well, half of the year is gone! It seems like it just flew by… I guess when you stay busy you just don’t notice, and we have been busy. Thank God!

We started off the month of July with a brand new little baby girl in our family. Chad and Jennifer are the proud parents of Miss Zoe Elise Stephenson, and I must say she is a beautiful little girl (she must take after her Mom). She was born on June 26. Zoe is their first child and they’re loving every bit of the new parent thing especially the NO sleep part of it. LOL!

The first part of the week in July we were still on vacation and, if I say so myself, it was a well deserved vacation. We started back July 6 with a Red, White, and Blue Celebration at South Drive Baptist Church. We were there for Sunday morning and afternoon. The church was full and we all had a great time.

From there we headed out west to the Texas Panhandle. We started off at the “Goodtime Gospel Jamboree” at the Church at Quail Street in Amarillo. It was a good crowd and we all had a good time! From there we went to the little town of Hartley, TX. We were at the First Baptist Church of Hartley. Not many people showed up that night, but the Holy Spirit did and for those that did come, we all had church. It was a great service!!! The next night we were at the “Texas Singing Jubilee” in Dumas, TX. The high school auditorium was full and we had a great concert. They rebooked it right on the spot so you need to make plans right now to be in Dumas, TX next year on July 11, 2009. The next morning we were at Calvary Baptist Church there in Dumas. Another great service!! It had been several years since we sang there but according to the Pastor it won’t be that long again.

The next week we were in north Louisiana. Logansport, Shreveport, and Clarks, LA. Of course being from south LA we call these people “Yankees”, but they sure know how to let loose, have a good time, and let God have His way. By the way, Old Bethel Baptist church in Clarks, LA is the oldest (still active) Baptist church in the state of LA. That was pretty cool, and we had church!!!!

The last week we are in south LA (that’s my stomping grounds). The food and fellowship just don’t get any better. That’s just the way it is! Check out our schedule and come see us.

The new Paul’s Journey “Press On” CD is now available. We re-recorded and re-mixed the CD and even added a bonus track with the current group doing all the singing. You’re going to love it! Even if you have already purchased the original “Press On” you’re going to want to get the new one, I promise!

We’re also in the studio right now recording our brand new project “Transition”. It will be our first project with our new record company Chapel Valley Records. We’re real excited about the songs on this CD. There’s something on there for everyone, and you’re going to love it! It is slated for a September 2008 release.

Have you seen the new web site yet? It is up and running, with more updates yet to come. We have a chat section where you can leave your comments, so let us know how you like it. We’d love to hear from you! www.paulsjourneyonline.com

Until next month, God bless you all!

June/July 2008

Well folks, it’s official!  We are now called Paul’s Journey.  The kick off date was June 1, 2008.  That morning we were at Central Baptist Church in Buna, TX and I have to tell you, when Pastor Milstead introduced us as Paul’s Journey I had to look around and see if there was another group there.  After 31 years as the Relations Quartet it’s hard to get use to being called something else.  The transition has been exciting though!

Speaking of “Transition”...  That just happens to be the name of our new CD that will be coming out sometime in late summer or early fall.  We have picked out some great songs for this new project and I can’t wait to share them with all of our friends.

God is really using the ministry of Paul’s Journey.  We’ve been having some great services!  We’ve seen several people get saved and many more down on their knees at the altar.  What an awesome opportunity God has given us!

We’ve had a pretty busy summer so far this year, so our mid-year vacation is going to be extra nice.  After that, we start July off with a bang.  We’re singing five straight days out in West Texas and two weekends in a row in Louisiana.  Be sure to check our schedule page to see if we’re coming to a town near you.

Chad and Jennifer’s baby girl (ZOE) is due the first of July, so we’re all excited about that!  Hey Chad, have you been practicing that diaper change thing?  If you get a chance, drop them a note on our guest book.

Paul’s Journey would love to come to your church to sing and minister, or maybe even lead a revival.  That would be awesome!  It’s easy to book us.  All you have to do is call The Victory Agency at 936-689-1732, tell them what you need and what date you would like for us to be there, and that’s it.  Now isn’t that easy?

Hope to you down the road, and God bless you all!

Rod, Ryan, Chad, and Randall
